Story
Team Chappers Legend is made up of a group of friends and family members who want to keep Chris's memory alive by taking part in a fun event, raising money for Chris's chosen charities and remembering the larger than life inspiration that he was. Our son, Chris passed away in June 2016 (aged just 23) after 8yrs of fighting Osteosarcoma, a very rare form of Bone Cancer. Despite losing a leg to the disease at only 15, Chris spent the rest of his life raising money and awareness for two charities that became very close to his heart. The Bone Cancer Research Trust and The Teenage Cancer Trust. He also inspired many others to do the same. Chris was an inspiration to many and lived by his motto ‘NEVER GIVE UP’. He had a natural love of sport and even when he was unable to play football anymore he found a new sport to participate in and started playing wheelchair basket ball. He played for Team GB u22's and his aim was to play for Team GB in the 2016 Para Olympics but unfortunately he didn’t make it that far. Due to Chris’s love of sport taking part in the Dragon Boat Race seems like the ideal way to remember him, by having fun in a competitive way aswel as raising money for his chosen charities The Bone Cancer Research Trust and The Teenage Cancer Trust.
