Story
Ken Carson and I are both RNIB Connect volunteers and we’re on a mission to sponsor two RNIB Talking Books for blind and partially sighted listeners.
Over 1,635 people with sight loss listen to RNIB’s Talking Books (audio books) across NI, and unlike commercial audio books, they’re free and easy to order over the phone.
Ken Carson and I are firm friends from Bangor. We worked together for years until Ken retired early when lost his sight.
I’m an avid reader myself and I just couldn’t imagine my life without reading if I lost my sight, so the idea grew from there. I just want to do something to help.
Raising money for RNIB’s Talking Books is something I feel strongly about. Ever since I became an RNIB volunteer and started supporting others alongside Ken, I’ve had an insight into what life can be like for someone with sight loss and just how inaccessible some places can
be. Until you see it first-hand, you don’t appreciate some of the barriers.
