Swim22 for Diabetes UK

Swim22 2019 · 22 May 2019 ·
Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the most devastating and fastest growing health crisis of our time, creating a world where diabetes can do no harm. Its a fight that involves all of us sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together.
My mother is diabetic, as was my maternal grandmother, (although that wasn't found out until it was too late). Therefore, ultimately I am at risk. In an attempt to raise awareness, and get a bit healthier I am attempting this challenge.
This isn't an easy one for me, as I have had a long-term fear of water, and in particular in swimming pools (having nearly drowned in my first ever swimming lesson when in Junior school!).
So, in an attempt to get fitter, and thwart off any possible diabetic conditions, and deal with my water fear once and for all, I would love it if you could sponsor me for this mega challenge.
Please note though, as I'm not a confident swimmer, I've opted for the 11 mile version - which equates to one mile a week over 12 weeks. So that's probably a minimum of 15 or 20 lengths each session (depending on pool size. Now I just need to find a pool that's open late & I'm comfortable with! :)
Please, please, please give a little to this worth while cause.
Thank you!
