Let's Build My School est une organisation œuvrant pour favoriser l'accès à l'éducation dans les villages reculés du Sénégal, en construisant des écoles avec des matériaux durables et d'origine locale.

Leur démarche se base sur la recherche et la mise en œuvre de techniques de construction innovantes et peu coûteuses, adaptables à différents contextes et ne nécessitant que peu – voire pas – de connaissances en construction ! Leur objectif à long terme est d'assister également les communautés locales dans l'acquisition de nouvelles compétences et méthodes de construction, qui pourront être reproduites sur d'autres bâtiments.

En 2020, ils ont organisé un concours via la plateforme Archstorming pour construire une nouvelle école à Marssassoum, en Casamance. C'est comme ça que je les ai connus ! Je souhaitais alors m'investir dans une aventure humanitaire, mettre mes compétences et mon temps à contribution, même modestement... Et participer à un concours d'architecture avec Maria et Léo était un premier pas.

Nous étions tellement heureux d'apprendre que notre projet avait été retenu comme finaliste ! Même s'il n'a pas eu le premier prix... Mais pas d'inquiétude ! Nous avons été si séduits par les qualités du projet gagnant que nous ne pouvions pas être déçus ! Et ensuite ? Après avoir participé à plusieurs concours, je souhaitais aller plus loin et m'investir encore davantage pour aider. Pour apprendre, aussi ! Mais surtout : pour donner...

Donc aujourd'hui, je vais avoir besoin de TOI ! Parce que chaque volontaire participant au chantier s'est engagé à lever des fonds à hauteur de 800 GBP, soit environ 950 € (et que c'est un vrai défi pour moi...!) :

• 70% de cette somme financera directement les matériaux nécessaires à la construction de l'école ;
• 30% financera notre séjour (hôtel, transport et nourriture) ;
• Et mes petits bras feront le reste une fois sur place !

Let's Build My School is an organization that acts for a better access to education in remote Senegalese villages by building schools with sustainable and locally sources materials.

In 2020, they launched an architecture competition via the Archstorming platform in order to build a new school in Marssassoum, Casamance. That's how I discovered LBMS! I wanted then to get involved in an adventure with humanitarian aims, to put my skills and time to good use, in my own modest way. And participating in architectural competitions with Maria and Léo was a first step in this direction.

We were so happy to learn that our proposal had been selected as a finalist! Even if it didn't get the first prize... But don't worry! So what was next ? After several competitions, I really wanted to go further and be even more involved if I could help. Especially, if I could learn! But mostly, if I could give...

Today, I'm going to need YOU! Because each volunteer participating in the workcamp is committed to raise 800 GBP – approximatively 950 € (such a big challenge for me...!):

• 70% of this amount will fund directly the construction materials of the school;
• 30% will fund our stay (hotel, transport and food);
• And my little arms will do the rest once there!
