ROYAL SIGNALS CHANNEL SWIM RELAY - PAUL · 24 September 2022

Blesma, The Limbless Veterans helps all serving and ex-Service men and women who have lost limbs, or lost the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support.

Story

Collectively, we are six members of the Royal Signals who will attempt to swim the English Channel as a 6-way relay. This is one of the many events that Royal Signals service personnel have been taking part in to celebrate our Corps centenary. We will be undertaking this challenge as per the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation rules, meaning no wetsuits and a strict 60 minute rotation between team members. The conditions in the channel are harsh, with cold water, currents, tides and "stuff in the water" to deal with! When not swimming, team members will be waiting their turn in our pilot boat, whilst faced with the weather and potential sea sickness! The idea was first hatched over a year ago, and the team has spent hundreds of hours training in the pool, lakes and in the sea. Given the effort put into the event, we thought that the good work that BLESMA do would make them an ideal charity to raise money for. Any donation, no matter how small, would be very much appreciated. Thank you for reading our Story.
