Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. We provide information and support to patients and their families and help myeloma patients live longer, with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery, development of and access to new treatments.

Story

On the 4th March I am running in the Anglesey Half Marathon to raise money for Myeloma UK in memory of Paul Reinsch who died from this form of cancer after a long and resilient fight in October 2017.

Paul Reinsch was extremely active in outdoor pursuits and a long standing and dedicated member of the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA). It was his vision, together with Mark Rowley, to initiate the UWFRA Outdoors Club to encourage young people to engage in outdoor pursuits such as climbing, walking, caving and sailing, and to become the future lifeblood of UWFRA.  This is where I met Paul and he not only introduced me to the outdoors but also built my self-confidence, and inspired me to succeed.  He managed to combine patience with passion, the level of the latter was only matched by his dry Yorkshire humour and wit.   I remain an active climber and remember fondly the many evening sessions and weekend trips away with the Outdoors Club.

Paul will be remembered for his never-ending commitment and capacity to enable others to partake in and take the same pleasure from outdoor pursuits as he did himself.  The everlasting personal effect he had on myself has no doubt been replicated many times over in those who have had the benefit of his infectious enthusiasm and unwavering dedication to help others.

He is sadly missed by many.
