Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.

On Sunday 3rd May 2020, I should have been running my first marathon, in the Milton Keynes Marathon (after running my first Half in December 2019). Obviously this has been postponed, and is currently scheduled for September.

It's been reported in the news that the London Marathon (and others) have launched a "2.6" campaign, so that people can do something on a smaller scale to raise money for their charity of choice.

This is something I've been thinking about over the last week. Charities are struggling massively at the moment, as they generate a lot of income from "events" (marathons and such).

The charity that I've been raising money for is MIND, and they're massively important at the moment - support for those with mental health issues is more important than ever, the pandemic, isolation etc, is having a major effect on mental health as well as physical.

So what I've decided to do, and have been thinking about for the past week, rather than jump on the 2.6 campaign, is to run 26.2 miles every week in May. (in lieu of an actual marathon !)

An donation that you could make, even if a pound or two, will go towards funding MIND to provide invaluable support in these troubling times.

Thank you in advance for your support - you're all lovely.

PS, I know many people will not being able to donate, because they're struggling financially at the moment during the crisis, whether self employed and having no income, or whether just having kids who are eating them out of house and home

Mental health issues are becoming more and more prevalent in today's society. Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem. MIND believe no-one should have to face a mental health problem alone. They’ll listen, give you support and advice, and fight your corner.

If you're able to donate, every penny counts and every donation is appreciated, big or small (but go big if you can 😉 ). Don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box if you're a UK tax payer.

Mind BLMK works across our communities to support positive mental health and wellbeing. Working closely with a range of partners, we offer a number of activities from our wellbeing centres and local venues to make a difference to the mental health and wellbeing of people in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes, and our aim is to make sure that no-one has to face a mental health problem alone.
