Welcome to the official Just Giving Page for Pauls People...where we will be putting all money raised from our events in 2018 (and a few warm up events in 2017!) and any generous donations we get along the way! Please check back for updates on any events we have coming up.
For those who didn't know Paul Thompson, he was infamously kind, charming and pretty much the best man you could ever meet. We lost him in September 2017. He was and still continues to be so important to all of us and he has left a huge gap in our lives. Grief is all consuming and so painful, but we know he wants us all to get up out of bed and continue to put one foot in front of the other. So we are channelling our efforts into raising as much money to make a difference to the future of cancer care.
When he was diagnosed with Cancer he was referred to Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff, at the darkest of times it was a fantastic place that offered advice, support and most importantly treatment. The hospital treats over 1.5 million patients every year, and continues to put a huge focus on research and clinical trials. The staff there are pretty incredible, and they all had a huge soft spot for Paul (of course they did!), so raising money for them feels like we can thank them for what they did, try to help develop new research and also help fund the hospital in their day to day patient care. I have seen first hand how wonderful they are, and Paul appreciated every single thing they did for him especially when he was hospitalised during his illness.
