Cancer Research UK

We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help beat cancer sooner

Story

Many Thanks to Chris Tinker for his donation of £20. With another £20 promised in May from ISIS and Eileen and Len Tinker we are almost at. 30% . Thank you all so much.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A few years ago my wife Julie suffered from breast cancer. A really aggressive type. She survived and I thank from the bottom of my heart all those who helped her to beat it.Seven years after her diagnosis she is still fully active and working her backside off as the Joint Leader in our village Pre-school.

The treatments lasted for years, but, without them, I would be a widower, and my children would no longer have a mother.

My father Len had lung cancer. He survived. Okay, they had to remove a lung, but 15 years on he is still  here, and still a grumpy old man, showing me the ropes for when I get to his age. I'm learning well. Thanks to the doctors who SAVED his life. Without them he would have died within a matter of months.

No matter who we are, we can get cancer, but by donating to my Just Giving page I hope to be able to let those carers and doctors and nurses continue the fight against this killer.

It doesn't discriminate.

Old or young.

Rich or poor.

Male or female.

We can beat this killer, but the research needs to be done. That costs money.

Myself and my friend Dave will be setting out on June 16th from St  Bees in Cumbria and over 13 days, we intend to reach Robin Hoods Bay in North Yorkshire.A coast to coast walk as defined by Alfred AW) Wainwright.

Those 192 miles are hard hard work on their own, let alone with a large rucksack with all you need to keep you warm, dry, fed and watered and housed for the duration.

We did it in 2011, and the day we start is the second anniversary of  the day we completed first time around. So have no fear. Unless Dave pushes me off a mountain in the Lake district for being an arse (yes I can be), we will complete on the 28th of June 2013.

I may complain about my feet all the way across.Strike that. I will complain about my feet all the way across. But I'll live.

Some cancer sufferers wont. But more and more people survive now because of the research.

It may be someone you know, or even a close loved one, like what happened with us.

Please support me.Every penny helps.

May I thank you in advance.

Thank you.

Kind regards

Paul.

we all know someone!
