Story

Just over two years ago we were given the devastating news that our Dad had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. This is a life shortening terminal illness that, as yet, has no known cure.

Motor Neurone Disease (also known as ALS) is a relatively rare degenerative neurological disease which affects around 5,000 adults in the UK, at any one time. As messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles, it can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe.

Hearing the news of his diagnosis rocked family and friends. We are fortunate that Dad has been given outstanding care from the NHS at King’s College Hospital, the local NHS teams and the MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association). He continues to live a largely normal life, although we know this will change over time

In order to try and give a little bit back, we the Backhouse brothers (Gus, Guy and Patch) will be running 100Km (each) over a 48 hour period this December.

We appreciate any support, however small, 100% of which will go to the MNDA which funds both research and supportive care for those suffering with this condition.

The funds will be split in half, one half going to care and the other to fund the research initiatives of Consultant Jameen Sreedharan and his Teams Research Work at Kings College Hospital.
