I am a member of the Phoenix College Alumni Association Engagement & Advisory Councils.

I feel strongly that a college education leads to better opportunities. I know that it certainly did that for me.

Many people are struggling right now, including community college students. Like many in our community, some have lost their jobs or had hours cut back due to the health crisis. They are deciding between spending money on bus fare to get to class versus having something to eat.

When I'm hungry or doing without, it's hard to concentrate. That's why I'm coming together with other alumni during this One-Day of Giving to raise funds for the Student Pantry at Phoenix College. The pantry provides much needed supplies and food to current students. 

It's been a hard year on all of us but if you are in a position to help, please join me in paying for a student's lunch to show them that there is support out there for those who are working hard to achieve their goals. We are all in this together.
