As a member of staff on the Intensvie Care Unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital, I was one of a team of nurses and consultants who had planned to complete a 15,000ft sky dive. Unfortunately a longstanding prolapsed disc means this was ruled out for me but I wanted to do something to help the team achieve their fundraising goals so I have decided to complete the virtual London Marathon instead. Our aim is to raise funds for The Blue skies appeal which plans to build a garden balcony on our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) so that the sickest patients in the hospital can benefit from the outdoors in a safe and infection-controlled environment. All patients, their visitors and staff are set to benefit from this innovative improvement that will make it easier and safer to move patients outside with no loss of space to the existing unit which opened in 2014. Thanks to those who originally donated when this was first announced! Hopefully you dont mind that i have changed the challenge!!
