3 Peaks Challenge · 8 July 2022

Sparkles is a small, parent-led charity providing speech and language, physio and occupational therapy to pre-school children with Down’s syndrome living in and around Bucks. We have helped over 100 children make themselves heard in the world, ease their path into childhood and ultimately school.

Story

2022 is a special year for PCR Biosystems as we have turned 10! To celebrate this big birthday and a decade of developing PCR reagents, a brave bunch of us will be completing the 3 Peaks Challenge. Our aim is to climb each of the 3 tallest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, in under 24 hours, to raise money for the brilliant charity Sparkles.

About the Charity

Sparkles is a UK registered charity, that supports children with Down's Syndrome by the provision of speech and language therapies, funding of physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions and organising appropriate leisure and recreational activities. Please see the link to their Facebook page below:

The Challenge

A team of 25 PCRBIO ‘Mountain Goats’ will be attempting to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours (including travel time) on July 8-9. In total we'll be hiking 23.5 miles, driving for 11 hours and climbing 3091m total ascent. You will be able to follow us along the trek live by visiting this page to monitor our progress and see how many meters we have climbed, the number of steps we have taken, how many flapjacks we have eaten, and other impressive stats - in real-time - as we complete the challenge.

Please join us in celebrating our big birthday by donating to this wonderful cause and help us reach this life-changing target. Importantly, PCRBIO will match every pound raised of the £10k target, meaning that together with gift aid, we could raise up to £25,000 for Sparkles! We are immensely grateful for your donations; every pound received will make each stride up and down these peaks that little bit easier!
