UPDATE! We've hit over 67,000m of climbing - the equivalent of over 7 times up Everest! Thank you to all PCC members who took to the hills this weekend to raise money for Pecan.
On 20th and 21st February, Peckham CC will be doing a group everesting to raise money for Pecan, host of Southwark Foodbank and community centre which has been providing vital support to Peckham residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic since March 2020.
PCC’s members will individually take on their chosen local climbs which will be logged via Strava over the course of Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February. At the end of the weekend we are aiming to have climbed the accumulated elevation of Everest - 8,848.86m.
We will be following all Covid regulations and cycling either individually or with one other person, and we expect many members will be tackling College Hill repeats or some of South East London’s best loved climbs (in a type 2 fun sort of way!) such as Canonbie, Crystal Palace, Anerley, Vicar’s Road… do come and give us a wave or cheer us on (at a social distance!)
Please show your love for your local community and make a donation to Pecan - find out more about their work in unemployment, poverty, women’s rights, mental health and food insecurity through the links below or watch a video made for their 30th anniversary here: https://youtu.be/o_c_ji6tgQA
