Story
Blackpool's breastfeeding peer supporters, called Star Buddies - from the hospital, community and volunteers - are taking a stroll from pier to pier to help raise funds and awareness for the Breastfeeding Network.
Recent research says ‘Success in breastfeeding is not the sole responsibility of women – the promotion of breastfeeding is a collective societal issue’ and we want to help women and families across the UK have access to a community that is supportive of breastfeeding, either in Blackpool, via social media or by using the helplines to speak to a mum who knows about breastfeeding.
This year's Peer to Pier walk will help us to raise funds to train and develop five new BfN Tutors/Supervisors - the backbone of
much of our work supporting women and families by providing breastfeeding knowledge and experience. Five Tutors/Supervisors can mean 60 volunteers are trained who can go on to support up to 3,000 families.
