Story
And then it was Sunday, October 9. Race Day. All bets were off...
We ran and ran, in beautiful conditions and alongside 20,000 like-minded souls, and crossed the finish-line knackered, but full of pride and joy. Job done, and a big pot of cash raised for Shelter, the UK homelessness charity.
MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED OUR FUNDRAISE! You've been tremendously generous:
* More than 120 online donations, from so many friends of PEI.
* A brilliant £10,000 offline contribution from a benefactor and long-standing admirer of Shelter, who wished to remain nameless.
* From PEI Group, a fantastic 50% match of the first £12,000 pound we raised with this run. That's another £6,000 that went directly to Shelter.
THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH.
Team PEI: Madeleine Farman, Mark Mahoney, Paul McLean, Toby & Hannah Mitchenall, Andy Thomson, Paul Verney, Martin Wilkins and Philip Borel.
Team Shelter: Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness - and campaigns to prevent it in the first place. In 2021, it helped over 10,000 people and households in London alone through their helpline and face-to-face services.
Today, with rising energy prices and inflation soaring, supporting them in their tireless effort to provide vital help to some of the most disadvantaged people in Britain seems more pertinent than ever.
For every £1 donated, Shelter will spend, according to their website:
- 79p directly on helping people through advice, support and campaigning
- 21p on fundraising
Once again thank you for joining in.
