Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We want to mark our 6th birthday in a way that helps others, so we have enlisted the support of our friend and Yorkshire cricket star Alex Lees and pledged to donate £10 to the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust for every boundary six he hits in 2016.

Alex Lees opens the batting for Yorkshire County Cricket Club and is also their captain in all one-day cricket competitions.  We hope he has a bumper season and hits dozens of 6's.

We admire the work and support that The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust provides to those young people who are fighting individual battles and to hospitals and researchers that provide care and search for cures.  Our team all have young people in their lives, so the work The Trust does is close to our hearts and also close to home.

The LCYCT is a small charity based here in Huddersfield that has a positive impact on the fight against youth cancer across the country.  They are currently working with 43 hospitals that provide specialist care and several of those are here in Yorkshire.

Battling cancer has also played a big part of Alex's life.  He lost his father Simon to the disease in 2011 which prompted his aunt (Simon’s sister) to focus her career on the fight against cancer.  She has recently completed a PHD on cancer in the young and works at a hospital that is supported by LCYCT.
