Thanks for visiting my Just Giving Page - I'm sharing my story for those who don't already know it in the hope that I can raise as much money and awareness as possible for the fantastic charity that is Breast Cancer Now!
In December 2018 I was on honeymoon in Thailand when I found a breast lump. I knew instantly what this meant. A difficult appointment with the GP followed and then came the agonising wait over Xmas, biopsies and results day. Everyone said it would be a blip….at only just 29 I’d be far too young. However at the start of January 2019 I was diagnosed with Oestrogen Positive Breast Cancer. 2 weeks later I found another lump - this time Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Since then I’ve had 2 mastectomies, lipofil, fertility preservation, 16 rounds of intensive chemotherapy, 15 sessions of radiotherapy, acid infusions, monthly injections and daily hormone treatment.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I really can't stress enough how important it is to get to know your boobs. This goes for both males and females. My tumours were grade 3 and incredibly fast growing. One was so close to the chest wall that I’m lucky to still be here. They tell me that even after all of this there’s a very high chance it will come back again and as such I'll be on treatment for many years to come.
Cancer has taken my confidence, my job and my chance at being a natural mum, but I will never let it take away my determination to make a difference. I promised I'd have a fundraiser once I got my strength back.........
So here goes:
FOR PENNINGTON WHARF RESIDENTS:
Friday 23rd October 2020 is Wear it Pink for Breast Cancer Now - to raise awareness and vital funds I'll be selling Pink pull bows for £2. The idea being that between the 23rd & 25th October Pennington Wharf will be as pink as possible with houses, lamp posts and everything in between wearing a pink bow! I'll deliver each bow with a fundraising pin badge for continued awareness - just comment with your donation your house number and street name :)
FOR EVERYONE ELSE:
I'll also be running a 5k on Friday 23rd October down the Canal path. I know 5k may not sound like a lot, but hey in August I couldn't even climb my stairs without a break, so to me its a huge mountain to climb!
It would mean so much to me if you could make a donation. Now, more than ever before, they really do need our support. 1 in 7 will develop Breast Cancer in their lifetime - let us ensure the research and care can continue to support every single person diagnosed.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
