The Aspire Channel Swim 2016 · 5 December 2016 to 31 March 2017 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2016, swimming the distance of the Channel over 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire. Every eight hours someone is paralysed by a Spinal Cord Injury and Aspire provides the essential equipment, advice, housing and grants that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently.

I used to swim once a week and do 20 lengths of the pool. Now I need to go 3 times a week and do 40 each time! My son Finlay has helpfully suggested I step up from this in case I am ill at any time! Well let me get going first Finlay!!

This is a big challenge, but the more I raise, the more of a difference I'll make !
