PENNYS STORY:
Penny was 24yrs old - five days off her 25th birthday [which she was dreading] when she was taken from us.
On the 12th December 2005 Penny rang me at work saying she was unwell, short of breath and found it hard to move. I advised her to contact her doctor as i was 250 miles away. She said she had and they would not see her till next day, so i asked her to give me the phone number i would ring them and then ring her back. This I did and they agreed reluctantly to see her later that morning. I rang back Penny she said a friend would take her down and she would ring me back this was at 10.10am.
I never spoke to Penny again that day. I tried for several hours to contact to her but only got her answer phone. Eventually I tracked her down to A/E only to be told they were helping her to breath. I was numb why Penny what was happening to her I was so far away.
I left work empty and alone my mind could not take it in, why Penny. I got home to the phone ringing a voice at the other end asking me was I on my own. I knew my Penny was dead, my screams ring out even now why why why. What have we ever done wrong was I so bad..........
We were told a few days later that Penny had died from a massive Pulmonary Embolism caused through a deep vein thrombosis, the silent killer. My father was diagnosed a month after Penny had died with the same thing, I was angry he survived and he hurt that his grandaughter died so early in life.
Since 2006 with the help of family and friends i have been raising awareness to the thrombosis charity, we have had cake sales swimathon and an annual bike ride. In 2010 the Beachy Head Marathon was conquered, I dearly thank all those who have raised awareness for lifeblood. Then in 2012 Zumbathon started and it has been the most popular we thank Debra from Kayjay for her amazing support incredible lady and conspirator Clare Baggs.
Ben - Pennys brother has done amazing he not only completed the Eastbourne half marathon, went on to complete the Brighton marathon in aid of Lifeblood and for his sister. Thanks Ben you've done so well.
Cassie - Pennys sister raised over £1000 in 2006 with a skydive at headcorn in Kent. Cassie friends held a Horse show later that year and donated £500. And in 2012 Cassie & Charlie raised with gift aid £1965.50 with a 3hr Zumbathon in memory of Penny and in Aid of Lifeblood.

We have 2 beautiful additions to the family Tia and Sophia, as grandparents they've taught us to laugh again. Penny would have been a doting Auntie and I know she is looking down on them. They too participated in the Zumbathons :0)

My father passed away in 2007 and my nephew who supported Pennys bike ride passed away in 2010. So we have rode for them too in the annual bike rides since there passing.
