<p><strong>Why do a semi-random collection of health researchers decide to climb the highest mountain peaks in England, Scotland and Wales?</strong></p> <p><em>&nbsp;</em></p> <p><em>Why not?</em>&nbsp;... seemed like a good idea at the time&nbsp;... a beer-storming&nbsp;conversation down the pub after work that has taken on a life of its own (especially after we realised we had an able and willing driver in our midst!).</p> <p>We are raising money for <strong>Friends of Suchana</strong>, the UK fundraising arm of a charity in West Bengal, India.&nbsp; See the great work they do towards the education and health of marginalised children: <a href="http://suchana-community.org/">http://suchana-community.org/</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Most of us are from PenTAG: <a href="http://sites.pcmd.ac.uk/pentag/">http://sites.pcmd.ac.uk/pentag/</a></p> <p>We are: <strong><em>Chris Hyde </em></strong>(our esteemed driver and veteran of an impressive 22hr Peak challenge during his Med School years);&nbsp; <strong><em>Lou Crathorne </em></strong>(all-round 'I'll do anything once' swimmer/climber/pogo-stick champion etc.); <strong><em>Becky Whear </em></strong>(active outdoor supremo whose idea of romance is climbing Kilimanjaro on your honeymoon night);&nbsp; <strong><em>Dane Wilkins </em></strong>(Becky's other half, whose idea of romance is a nice comfy hotel by the beach thanks very much); <em><strong>Jaime Peters </strong></em>(recent veteran of West Highland Way, Leicester's one-way system and long train journeys with Rob); <strong><em>Rob Anderson </em></strong>(last climbed a mountain in 1989 in flip-flops, but keen to relieve his youth all the same); <strong><em>Alex Wilmshurst </em></strong>(Lou's pal from London, who will set the pace!); <em><strong>Rich Fox</strong></em> (son of Chris Fox, and 19-year-old veteran of expeditions to Iceland, Borneo and Ivybridge)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Why July 22-24?</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>It's the only weekend Lou is not donning a rubber suit and swimming in various lakes and rivers around Devon.</p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Do we know what we are doing?</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>We are working on this bit, helped by&nbsp;the compulsive&nbsp;event organising talents of&nbsp;Lou.&nbsp; Er ...
