Story

Huge thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am delighted to be raising funds for Carlisle Mencap and People First.

The reason for this is that I am the parent of a child with severe learning difficulties on the autism spectrum. I remember how I felt when I found out that my son was disabled, it was shattering. It was a moment in my life where everything changed, for myself and for my family. You can’t underestimate the amount of support that families in this position need from their friends and family, and from organisations like Carlisle Mencap and People First.

That is why I have a passionate interest and am committed to supporting and improving the lives of those with learning difficulties and their families.

Hence my idea to do something brave and very much out of my comfort zone to help raise essential funds for those in need.

I am fundraising alongside three other inspirational ladies:

Marcia Reid Fotheringham (High Sheriff of Cumbria) and Kerrie Higham both raising funds for The Well Communities; and

Carol Fish (Cartmell Shepherd) raising funds for Oak Tree Animals’ Charity.

All funds raised will be split evenly between all four charities.

Please do come and support us at the family fun day at Carlisle East Fire Station on Eastern Way on the 12th October 2019 between 10am and 3pm.

Many thanks for your kind support, it is very much appreciated.
