Permira colleagues and the Permira Foundation have been working with the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) over the past two years, and longer through our work with the Social Business Trust. 

LEYF run 39 nursery and pre-schools across London, including in some of the most disadvantaged areas of London. Permira Foundation supported the launch of LEYF's Doubling Down Initiative in October 2020, which seeks to double the number of hours in nursery for children whose families do not qualify for the full 30 hours' provision, but for whom the benefits of additional Early Years' Curriculum exposure, a daily hot meal, and time in a nurturing nursery setting are significant. 

LEYF is running a matched giving campaign with the Childhood Trust, seeking to raise funds to support children trapped in poverty with a lifeline of extra hours in nursery over the next year. 

For every £1 raised by Permira employees, this will be 3:1 matched by the Permira Foundation, and this donation (if received in good time before the 17th June deadline) will be matched again by the Childhood Trust, who will then make the final gift to LEYF - turning a £1 donation into £8 towards unlocking a child's future.
