April is Autism Awareness Month and the biggest month in the calendar for Perth Autism Support to raise awareness of our services and fundraise to ensure we can develop service in line with demand.
As of 1st April 2014, we support 222 families throughout Perth & Kinross all with a child under 16 with an autism diagnosis or those going through the diagnosis procedure, we provide services 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday.
For children we provide term time activities with a range of classes available including:
Youth Theatre, Figurenotes music, Relax Kids, Chill Skills, Lego Therapy, Motor Skills, Social Groups, autism specific swimming lessons, Cookery class, Art Class, Video Game Programming and Saturday clubs.
We also provide school holiday activities for 3 days per week throughout Easter, Summer and October.
We also have a Short Breaks and Befriending service for children with autism.
We are aware of the effect an autism diagnosis has on the whole family and therefore provide advice, training and information for parents, social groups and relaxation classes for both parents and siblings and we also run a short breaks service for siblings.
We are coming to the end of our 3 year funding from the Scottish Government Strategy for Autism Development Fund and therefore to ensure our services can continue we will be focussing on fundraising throughout 2014.
Every little helps, whether its £1 or £100, we guarantee every pound raised will go back into direct services for families, so please help us out this April, be autism aware and help our services to continue!
Thank you!
