We build community & trusted relationships to tackle the causes of homelessness

About the Charity we support: Cyrenians has been tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness for over 50 years. As well as providing direct support to those experiencing street homelessness, they work to prevent homelessness by alleviating poverty, tackling food insecurity and providing support to families and young people. Cyrenians meet people where they are and build relationships which help them to flourish.

It takes more than a roof over your head to make a home, which is why Cyrenians offers support and community without judgement, tailored to each person’s needs. As demand for their services rises fast in this cost of living crisis, your support will allow them to respond quickly, ensuring they can be there for people how and when they need them. Thank you.

Big Knit 2022: Following on from last years amazing effort during our 'lockdown Big Knit 2021' we are wanting to add to our achieved target of over £4000 and reach £6000 by December 5th!

Here is your chance to support a wonderful charity while securing some great winter woolies for yourself or for Christmas gifts!...from hand knits ranging from Dolly MacLean's beautifully fine Shetland shawl and two wonderful hand spun throws from Carol Buskirk in the USA to special knitted toys, rugs, socks and kiddies cardigans, hats, scarves, rugs, teapot cosies and cushion covers! If you don't fancy or need a knitted can still make a donation!

Background: Here is your chance to once again support a wonderful charity Cyrenians while securing some great winter woolies for yourself or for Christmas gifts!...from hand knits ranging from small rugs and large blankets to special knitted toys, socks and kiddies jumpers & cardigans, baby clothes, wooly hats, scarves, rugs and even teapot cosies!

The Shades of Amber Big Knit 2022 is a hands-on way of raising funds for our favourite charity. Festival-goers and knitters from afar contribute their time and energy to knit items that are auctioned, raffled or sold to help show our support in a unique, creative and involving way.

Dougie MacLean's mother Dolly was the Big Knit's first co-ordinator in 2007 and continues to help with the knitting and overseeing of the Big Knit Team that has gradually evolved. Several of Dolly's special hand knit items are once again included in this year's offerings.

As we gradually emerge from the global (Covid 19) pandemic, and with many of our overseas festival-goers still not ready to travel, we are wanting to again raise funds for Cyrenians … this year this will happen simultaneously at our weekend event at Cardney Steading and by appealing to members of our growing global audience who have enjoyed our Perthshire Amber Festival in the past or our streamed Live Concerts during 2020, 2021 and 2022! We are asking for a donation (with or without one of the special knitted items) from everyone.

How to secure an item: All the items available (with suggested minimum donation) are numbered and listed on the festival website     Each item will go to the first person who contacts Jenny via email ...  quoting the name and number of the item and confirming that (once they hear back by email from Jenny) they will immediately donate the requested amount (or more) here on this Just Giving site. Remember we will need your full name and postal address to send your package out to, so please include that in the email as well.

Remember... If you don't fancy or need a knitted can still make a donation! Every pound will help...
