I will be running the London Marathon 2023. I would like to raise some money for SHASBAH - Sheffield Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus while doing so.

As most of you know, amongst his many diagnoses Brandon has hydrocephalus, which is a condition I knew practically nothing about prior to finding him 👩‍👦 💕 The pressure in his head has stabilized itself as he got older and he is lucky that he has not needed a shunt or had any hospital stays for this this, but potentially this could happen at any time. If this ever happened, the knowledge, advice and emotional and practical support from this charity and the friends we’ve met through it would be invaluable. Kids who have had multiple operations in their first year, and some amazing parents who have spent weeks on end in hospital with their kids, or who have to have a hospital bag ready to go, just in case, every time their child has a headache, sickness, temperature etc as there is always the chance of shunt revisions being needed, infections etc. The advice and support network that SHASBAH provides is so vital to them all. The charity does a lot of work organizing accessible events and activities to allow kids, teens and adults with hydrocephalus and/or spina Bifida to enjoy activities that the rest of us can take for granted, on their own or with their whole families, and will be so important to Don throughout his life. Any funds we can raise will be really appreciated and they will make really good use of them.
