Story

After bravely fighting and battling her bowel and bone cancer for a very short period of time, Mum finally lost the battle at a too young 74. Mum rests now in peace with Dad who also was taken early at 51.

During her final days, she was looked after by the HEROIC and wonderful people at St Joseph's Hospice. Their care, compassion and complete dedication to Mum and my family made this difficult time more bearable. I'll personally be forever in their debt.

Words can't describe the amazing staff at Jospice - for me, if I can help just a little and ensure Jospice keeps running and allowing other people the dignity and compassion Jospice provides - well it's something

I've targeted £2,000 as this will go some way to the cost of looking after someone for 1 day at St Josephs.  I'll be regularly updating people with via Facebook. All the places chosen for the half marathons are personal in some way to Mum.

Starting in at the Royal Windsor Castle (one of Mum's most favourite places) Half on 21 May 2017 and finishing with the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland on 27 May 2018.

HIGHLIGHTS so far:

-Jamie Mabbs & Louise ran Windsor
- Hadrians Wall was stunning across NT land
- My uncle (Mum's brother Colin) cycled the Canadian leg
- Fred Friend ran Maidstone with me - nasty hills!
- Steve Goodman-Monger ran Bedford with me adid a ridiculously good time
- I entered the Gloucester 'Marathon' by mistake, ran half of it of course!
- My wife, Ali Friend, Katy Regan and Louis Quail all ran Hampton Court with me
- Unbe known to be, my 2 cousins flew in from Toronto Canada the morning of the Liverpool Half and ran it with me!
- For #12 - Surrey - which will be an unoffical race, a bunch of colleagues & friends from British Gas will run with me
- For the final race #13 - I have been asked by race committee to be 'special guest' and Race starter, which is very humbling - quick fire of gun & join the race!
