Story

From 24 May 2013 I will be cycling more than 1,000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for Boyne Hill Boys and Girls' Football Club - and also to prove that you can still do amazing things when you have passed your 50th birthday!

I am the chairman of the football club, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It is run entirely by volunteers, and provides footballing opportunities for boys and girls of all standards from ages 6-17.

There are nine teams at the moment, and we have worked really hard to establish a permanent base for the club at Summerleaze in the town.

It's an expensive business keeping the club running, so I really want to mark the 20th anniversary by raising as much money as I can to help us get even stronger and provide more football and fun for young people in Maidenhead.

Cycling up to 100 miles a day for a fortnight is going to be a major challenge! I will be training hard over the next few months to make sure by heart, lungs, legs and bottom are up to that challenge.

Any donation you can make would be appreciated hugely by me and everyone associated with our proud and happy club. And all the money will go to the club because I am paying for the trip myself.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks very much!
