Story

On the 9th of July myself and Jess are taking part in the Gower Peninsula Mighty Hike. It is a 26 mile hike, undertaken within a day, over the beautiful backdrop of the Gower Peninsula.

We undertook this event 7 years ago, when we were far younger, fitter, healthier and with a few less greys (me, not Jess). We also then only had one child and the trials and tribulations of life hadn't worn us out. Did I also mention that the walk back then was shorter, only 22 miles! Needless to say that day was a huge challenge for us both and we have never felt so exhausted. If you don't know, Wales can be fairly hilly, so for our sins we have decided to do it again.

Why you ask? Over that period of time we have all lost many loved ones that we hold close to our hearts. As well as losing loved ones, we know many people who have battled/battling with this illness. We can't even begin to imagine how people feel. With the help of Macmillan the feelings of being helpless, scared, lonely and worried can all be eased and ensure that our friends receive the care they need through this fantastic charity. One beacon of shining light, during the pandemic, has been our health care workers!! Who throughout his difficult time continue to support individuals and families during their toughest times.

We both want to give something back and support some of these amazing charities. By undertaking this hike, we aim to raise money for Macmillan Centres in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.

We would be really grateful, if you would sponsor us. It can be as little or a much as you like. Jess will also be selling her crafts during this time and all proceeds will go to this event.
