Me and a few like minded (deranged?) colleagues at Brookfield Properties will be taking part in a 15,000ft tandem skydive to raise as much money as possible for our charity partner, ELHAP.
Based on the amazing British weather, this is first scheduled to take place on Monday, 13th September and I have no reason to doubt that it won't take place then. Ah - update 1 - the weather did scupper the jump so we're now booked to jump on 11th October 2021, updates to follow....
At 15,000ft, I am told this is the highest tandem skydive anyone in the UK can do and it will give us about 60 seconds of freefall. What they actually say is 60 seconds of freefall so you 'should' get some time to get yourself together and look around and enjoy the experience once you've fallen gracefully out of the plane.
That's what we're doing and I would be honoured if you would consider making a donation to this amazing charity. Who are ELHAP and what do they do I hear you ask, well.....
ELHAP (Every Life Has A Purpose) supports over 600 children, young people and adults with disabilities from across East London. Most have learning disabilities and autism, and many have other complex needs. Based in over 5 acres of woodland, with a vast adventure playground, ELHAP gives disabled and disadvantaged children the chance to "just be kids." They can fly through the air on the zip wire, get muddy, cook over an open fire, build dens and go on bug hunts, as well as take part in art, yoga, dance, drama and horticulture workshops. ELHAP also works with adults, helping them develop skills, connect with the local community, and explore their options for the future.
If you don't/can't donate, no worries. If you do, many thanks. Either way at least you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that I am feeling pretty nervous/excited/uncomfortable about the whole thing and will no doubt be quiet for a short period of time!
