Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you know, I am a keen cyclist and on 12th June, I shall once again be riding 104 miles in the Northern Rock Cyclone sportive.

This ride has a special significance to me, as it was shortly after last year's event that my son, Tom, was diagnosed with a Wilm's Tumour on his left kidney. During what has been a very hard year, he has had to undergo major surgery to remove his damaged kidney as well as enduring extensive courses of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Even during this difficult period, he has remained strong and has made us smile.

So for this ride, I hope to raise as much money as possible for NECCR (North East Children's Cancer Research) which is a charity which has become very close to our hearts and with your help will hopefully continue to be able to help other families undergoing the same challenges and difficulties we have had to.

The photos attached show Tom's journey over the last year - starting from his 3rd birthday pary in June 09, just before he was diagnosed to him playing on the beach last weekend, and the tough times in between. As you can see, he is very much improved - thanks to the help and support of the doctors and nurses at the Cancer Unit at the RVI and the NECCR.

Your support is much appreciated. Pete
