Story

From Peter Edgeler

Hi everyone, I had a significant birthday in mid May when this child of the 60's (just) turned 60.

All I really want for my birthday is for all my friends and family to stay safe but if you are able to I would also like you to donate to one of my favourite charities, the AMBERLEY MUSEUM & HERITAGE CENTRE.

Some of you who live near me already support the Museum and know what a fun and interesting place it is to visit. What you may not know is that I and many others are volunteers who help run and support the Museum throughout the year.

I've chosen this charity as I know what a difficult time it (along with many other charities and businesses) is having at the moment.

Please do not feel under pressure to donate in these difficult times by I would be delighted if you can help the Museum survive through the current crisis. If you are able I hope you will come for a visit one day to see the Museum for yourselves. You may even catch me in my volunteer photographer role but be warned Amberley Museum gets into your blood. I started by taking a few photographs and am now a trustee of the collections and owner of a vintage double deck bus!

From the Museum.

After considering the health and well-being of our visitors, volunteers and staff, we have decided to temporarily close Amberley Museum to visitors until the current situation caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19) eases. We cant wait to welcome you back to the museum as soon as possible, but without your continued support this might not be possible. Amberley Museum is an independent museum, meaning we receive no regular funding from government or local authorities. We derive most of our income from our amazing visitors and supporters. People like you. With your support we will be able to reopen and (after the unexpected delay) you will be able to enjoy all our regular exhibits, our special event days such as our James Bond and Steam Punk weekends, and classic vehicle shows. Families and visitors of all ages have enjoyed Amberley Museum for 40 years; by making a donation today, you can help make it another 40.
