Story
In 2021 I was privileged to be a support driver for the Cure Leukaemia Tour 21.
18 non professional cyclists rode the complete route of the Tour De France one week before the main race. Each stage, exactly as the pro's. In 2022 I rode the route as a Ride Captain. I did the same in 2023 and 2024. Now, in 2025 I am back again, riding the Tour route.
As always we have a new group of riders who are riding the whole of a hugely mountainous route. Their aim, as ever, to raise over €1m to fund research programmes around the world aimed specifically at finding cures for the various different types of blood cancer.
I will ride every stage of this year's Tour, one week before the pro's. I will use my knowledge as a cyclist and coach to help the group achieve their goals - supporting them on and off the bike. They have committed not only to riding the route but everyone of them has spent a large part of the last year creating and undertaking many fundraising activities. They want to ride but they want to support the incredible work of Cure Leukaemia more.
As a ride Ride Captain we are not obliged to raise money but the more I learn about Cure Leukaemia and the research and scientists it supports, the more impressed I am.
So, this is my Just Giving page for Cure Leukaemia. If it is something you feel like supporting, please do so. I will upload my Strava routes with pictures each day, so this remains a record of an amazing but challenging event.
Thank you, Peter
