Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'll be running Brooklyn Marathon and Alison the Half in aid of the Deaf to Menieres charity.
Menieres disease affects about 1 in 1000 people and currently has no cure. Little is known about the causes of this debilitating condition which causes progressive hearing loss, tinnitus, extreme vertigo, nausea, sickness and drop attacks. It can be Uni or Bi-lateral and and can eventually result in profound deafness.
I was diagnosed with the disease in 2014 in my left ear. I have tried to manage the symptoms with exercise and medication and had until recently, been in remission. However, after several attacks in the last few months, my training for Brooklyn has been sporadic. I am determined to complete the course though, as part of an ambition to run a marathon on each continent.
Deaf to Menieres is a charity that strives to assist sufferers with the management of the disease whilst exploring new treatments and protocols that will hopefully one day provide a cure.
