We offer essential support and care to disabled people in the East of England

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am so pleased to have been given a place for the London Marathon 2022 and to be raising money for the Papworth Trust. Running the marathon is one of the things on my bucket list. Here is some more information on the Papworth Trust and the amazing work they do. Thank you for any donations you give, we are very grateful for your support.

Papworth Trust’s mission to support disabled people to have ‘equality, choice and independence’ is as strong today as it was when the charity was founded over 100 years ago. Our vision is a ‘world where disabled people are seen for what they can do’.

We achieve our vision by living our values:

•We listen to people’s needs and build great services around them

•We inspire everyone to try to change our world

•We support people to live their lives to the full

•We care that every person is seen for what they can do

•We work together so that we can make a difference.

Employment

Employment support is a fundamental and strategic component of Papworth Trust’s offer; a sustainable job is a key route towards independence and choice for disabled people.

We have supported over 1,600 people during the last year to search for, secure and sustainable employment.

We have worked with 340 people this year on Work and Health programme.

The BBO project has engaged with 225 participants across Cambridgeshire and Essex.

Our bespoke employment pathway for people with Learning Disabilities, First Steps to Success supported 74 people in the last year across Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.

Through the JETS (Job Entry Targeted Support) programme we have supported 1,000 people

Day Services

Our ‘Opportunities Without Limits’ day services support customers to improve their health and wellbeing, live independently, seek out employment/volunteering opportunities and play an active part in their local community.

We have 271 customers attending over 1,100 virtual and face to face sessions every week, over 5 sites. Our customers learn new skills, reduce feelings of isolation and increase their independence.

Our programme of modernisation has progressed significantly this year; through running virtual and face to face programmes side by side, launching new projects to tackle social isolation, as well as running programmes in the evenings and weekends.

Housing

We are committed to providing safe, secure and accessible homes for disabled people, of vital importance in the face of a National shortage of such homes.

•We provide 664 safe, enabling and accessible homes for tenants.

•We have 173 general needs properties in Cambridgeshire.

•We have 495 supported living properties across the East of England.

Care

We focus on delivering high quality support services for people with complex needs; working with disabled people to both support their day to day lives and progression towards increased independence, often for the first time

The Trust has delivered over 3,700 hours of support in 2020/21 in supported living settings across Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

We are delighted that the quality of our delivery is recognised by the Care Quality Commission; two of our services are judged to be ‘Good’, with the third ‘Outstanding’ – only 4% of services are rated ‘Outstanding’ nationally!
