My old brother in law, Neil Hoy, is only here after surviving 2 fatal heart attack because his amazing wife Jo was on hand and confident enough to perform CPR on him - not once but twice .
By sheer luck she had just done the course a few weeks before Neil’s first heart attack, and was as prepared as anyone could be to intervene and help save his life.
Restart a Heart can save lives, by providing the right training, resources and opportunities so people can learn how to react when someone collapses and stops breathing normally. And in the wake of the pandemic, which saw bystander CPR levels decrease and put thousands more lives at risk, these skills are needed more than ever. Thats why the role you play is so important.
St John Ambulance, and its volunteers, are a constant presence at all major event, and quite frankly taken for granted by us the general public. They do amazing work that saves lives on a daily basis.
Please use the excuse of me coming out of Triathlon retirement to pay them back some appreciation, so they can continue to train more people to be like Jo.
