Retrak enables street children to have a real alternative to life on the street. Working in Uganda, Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya and more we provide healthcare, refuge and education so street children can realise their potential and discover their worth.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This September I am travelling to Uganda as part of a team of HR Professionals hoping to make a difference to the children and staff supported by the charity Retrak.

Retrak works to transform lives and provide positive futures for the
world’s most vulnerable children who live, work and sleep on the
street.

For the last two years, Retrak Uganda have hosted volunteer
teams made up of HR professionals from across the UK and further afield. More details about what we will do out there can be found in Ian Pettigrew's blog about last year's trip:

During our visit, volunteers like myself will apply our industry specific
and personal skills to leave a lasting impact on both the staff and
young people of Retrak. In Kampala we will divide our time between engaging with young people through confidence building activities and crafts, in addition we will build the capacity of staff through coaching, leadership training and workshops.

I am, of course, paying for my travel and expenses myself but I need your help to raise at least £2000, which will go directly to the projects and work of Retrak.

If you want to see me go through some pain before donating then I'm playing 72 Holes of Golf in one day at Davyhulme Golf Club on Thursday 31st May , 18 holes is usually painful enough believe me!

I'll be letting you know how I've done in the hope that you feel inclined to donate around this time.

Many thanks to Davyhulme Golf Club for their support with this initiative.

Either way I'm hoping you will donate, here are some examples of where donations will be spent.

£4 – A Mosquito net for a child

£8 – A medical check-up for a child

£25 – A week of meals

£25 – Supporting three children to access catch up education classes.

£30 – Provides 6 children with psycho-social care / therapy whilst at our centres

£50 – Provides 3 children with safe shelter

£100 – Provides 5 older children with vocational training and/or a business start-up loan.
