SimplyHealth Great North Run 2018 · 9 September 2018 ·

This campaign has been set up to support our Great North Run participants as they train and fundraise for the event taking place on Sunday 9th September 2018.

Story

Having secured a place in this years Great North Run on 9th September 2018, I am currently training hard to compete in the worlds largest half marathon, running alongside 57,000 runners between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shield, 13.1 miles!

Running is a passion of mine and I have completed many half marathons along with two full marathons, Birmingham 2017 and Manchester 2018.  This will be my first running event where I will be running for charity, St Richards Hospice Worcester, who is a charity close to my families hearts along with many others who have relied on this truly great charity.

St Richard’s Hospice cares for patients and families in Worcestershire who are living with life-limiting illnesses. Each year we give free care and support to around 3,000 patients, loved ones and the bereaved – helping them towards the best quality of life possible.

St Richard’s is an independent registered charity.  It costs £8.4m (2017/18) a year to run all our services. Three quarters of our income comes from public donations, this includes gifts in Wills, one off or regular donations, fundraising events and personal challenges, trading, legacies and grants from trusts and business sponsorship. The remainder comes from the NHS.
