Story
I am running for MQ as I love their mission to better understand, treat and prevent mental illness.
I ran the 2023 London Marathon for MQ, my first marathon, unfortunately I didn't get a ballot entry for 2024, so am going to have some fun running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 7th April 2024.
My "why" story is at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/peter-robinson26point2 and in p3 of https://www.mqmentalhealth.org/wp-content/uploads/MQ-fundraising-Pack.pdf. With your help we raised over £3,000 for this great cause last year.
Like many, our family and friends are impacted by mental health issues and every little people can offer in support, helps to improve the treatment and quality of life for others.
Another reason I support this area is more personal, my son Tom was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), which is a broad term for a number of mental health issues. He has had a long journey, working through many social & learning difficulties, various health & medication hurdles but on the flipside is on his 2nd year of a Law Degree at University.
More funding and specialised research can improve this imbalance and other people’s treatment and quality of life.
Stop and think for a second: You will all know someone with a mental illness whether you can observe it or not …
We’re MQ, the mental health research charity. We transform lives through research, helping to create a future where mental illnesses are understood, effectively treated and one day prevented. Right now, one in four people in the UK are living with a mental health condition. Our scientists investigate a huge range of issues: depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and more. We’re bringing together everything from cutting-edge neuroscience to social studies to find the answers we need. Better is possible.
THANK YOU!
