Story
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my page.
This is my Goodwood Marathon fundraiser for Dog A.I.D (Assistance In Disability) which I'll be doing on the 14th April this year. I'll be pushing the full 26 mile course in my regular wheelchair, dressed in a big yellow Tele tubby outfit. I'm 27 years old, a T10 complete paraplegic and have been a full time wheelchair user for the past 8 years. I have no sensory or motor function below T10 Spinal level. I've also survived a battle with sepsis and have had 2 strokes, but don't let that or any of the other complications I have stop me and continue to live an active life to the fullest I can, Helping out brilliant causes like Dog A.I.D along the way too.
The work they do is absolutely amazing. They work with disabled people, alongside their existing dogs and train them to become life saving assistance dogs. Without Dog A.I.D many severely disabled people would not be able to carry out the daily tasks you and I take for granted, would not be able to live an independent life, would be in and out of hospital a lot more and would be completely reliant on carers 24/7. Dog A.I.D's approach is a breath of fresh air and unlike most Assistance dog charities they pair you with a trainer and work with both you and your existing dog, regardless of age or breed and give them the training they need to save lives. Dog A.I.D makes such a difference to the lives of severely disabled people and being disabled myself, I appreciate what charities Like DOG A.I.D do to help. Helping disabled people maintain their independence and aiding them to live as normal life as possible irrespective of their condition with the help of an assistance dog by their side. It's a brilliant cause and one I'm proud to support. I'd like to do this marathon for DOG A.I.D this year to say a massive thanks for all their amazing work and to raise funds to enable them to continue to help and improve the lives of Disabled people with Assistance dogs.
