FOTA offer the opportunity for young people to achieve relevant youth awards such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and Junior Award Scheme for Schools. We believe that these awards should be available to all, regardless of background or ability.

Story

Very many thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We know that the lives of Maasai girls in Kenya will be transformed if they have access to a full education. It builds both confidence and aspirations; enabling them to forge ahead with positive career choices.

Without education, they risk early marriage and FGM. Through secondary and higher education opportunities, they are effectively helped to avoid these life-limiting factors. So as they gain qualifications, their path to a more autonimous life is secured and they can see all the possibilities of a personal career open up before them; wider horizons.

The Joseph Thomson Maasai Trust has been in partnership with Across Maasailand Initiative with this project for almost four years now, and we know that it works. The wonderful testimonials we`ve received from girls and young women who have benefitted from our funding, speak volumes about the value of this project. All of the girls also speak of wanting to be positive role models to inspire others to follow.
