Thank you to all who have donated so far. I completed the Etape yesterday and it was by far the toughest day I have ever had in the saddle. Thinking of how the money would help Sobell House really helped me up the last 15km of climbing so your donations went a long way to helping me complete the challenge.

Late last year my friend Sean suggested we ride a stage of the Tour de France known as the Etape du Tour which consists of 135km of riding and 4550m of ascent. We will start at Albertville and finish at the Val Thorens ski resort at an altitude of 2350m, the highest Etape finish in history. This is without doubt the hardest challenge I have ever attempted and I have chosen to do this at the ripe old age of 55!  To make this all a little easier I have decided to raise money for a very worthwhile cause, Sobell House.  As a family we have been fortunate not to have required the services of this charity, however we know friends who have and how important the work they do is, to both the patients and family members.

I have been training for this challenge for the last eight months come rain or shine.  It hasn't been without incident, namely falling off my bike while returning from a training ride and cracking both my helmet and a few ribs! This has made the last 8 weeks of training both difficult and uncomfortable, however a few broken ribs aren't going to stop me from giving this challenge a go!

Anything you can donate will really make a difference to the charity and help me when I really need it, climbing the hills and wondering what on earth I am doing!
