Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On June 24th I'm running a marathon in Cheltenham (The Cheltenham Circular Challenge), for Marie Curie Cancer Care. They provide care to terminally ill patients in their own homes or hospices, while offering support to their families. They're a brilliant charity, and every amount you donate, however large or small, will make a real difference to someone's life whilst they deal with or fight cancer.
Apparently this is one of the hardest marathons in the UK, rising to a height of 290m at its peak, which clearly isn't something you'd take on if you were still technically overweight, nearing 40, and carrying stacks of injuries in the ankle, foot & shin areas (not to mention runner's nipple).
Oh....hang on.
Updated 25/6: They weren't joking about the difficulty of the course. Never walked up hills that steep, let alone run them! Throw in a few hundred tonnes of mud, horse manure and cowpats and you have yourself an unbelievably tough challenge.I completed in 6 hours and change (they were far more people behind me than in front though!) and managed to run into an electric fence, fall into stinging nettles and jar my back quite badly on a heavy fall on a descent (don't worry, nobody was looking). There cannot be a harder marathon than that anywhere. Thanks to everyone who sponsored me, really appreciated.
