In November of this year I will be journeying to Uganda with a team of GMP staff to work with the charity Retrak. Another team will be going to Ethiopia. Africa has a huge problem with street children who are either abandoned by their parents or go to big cities to escape destitution at home. Retrak, a Stockport based charity, rescues street children through their hostels and drop in centres, aims to train the children or get them into education and also finds them foster parents. The GMP team will be helping to renovate local facilities but also to work with and get to know some of the young people.

The GMP team last year raised over £40,000 for the trip and we hope to do even better this year. There will be a number of fundraising events but first off I am running in the Manchester 10k on May 15th and I wonder if you would be willing to sponsor me. I will be paying my own air fare to Uganda so any money raised goes straight to the charity and the young people on the street.
