Story
In July 2005 my friend, Daren Bowness, died, tragically, whilst on a business trip in South Africa. He drowned. Daren was 35.
I believed then and now that if there was any way to spare other families and friends from the pain of an early, unnecessary accident I would do my best. I have applied to run in the London marathon every year since 2005 and now, at my fourth attempt I have been accepted for the 26th April 2009 run.
I will be running in memory of Daren and to raise awareness and funds for Surf Lifesaving Great Britain. With their strategic UK partner, the RNLI, and worldwide through strong links with the Australian, New Zealand and South African surf lifesaving organisations, they are experts in water safety in the unique and difficult environment of beach and surf rescue.
Thank you so much for your support.
Pete
