During the first two weeks of October, I will be joining 14 colleagues in a trek to Everest Base Camp. The 12 day expedition will see us cover 130km, gaining 2,750m in elevation and, if conditions permit, we will continue up to Mount Kala Patthar at 5,644m high.

As part of this expedition, I will be raising money for Maiti Nepal, a home for women who have been trafficked, exploited, abused or had their rights denied in any form. Headquartered in Kathmandu, Maiti Nepal works to protect and improve the lives of vulnerable individuals and rescue survivors.

Maiti Nepal, today, conducts a wide range of activities including arranging awareness campaigns, community sensitisation programs, rescue operations, apprehending traffickers, providing legal support to the needy, women empowerment programs, training, providing antiretroviral therapy to children and women infected by HIV.
