Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·
Ian Roberts died on 14th November 2010, age 41, four years after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. Ian was was our friend Suzie Butler's brother. To raise money for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust (SDBTT), Andy Butler (Suzie's husband and my squash/drinking companion) and their daughter Hatty (18) decided to run the London Marathon together. Then a few weeks back Hatty found out that the Marathon was right in the middle of her A-Level Art practical and realised she just couldn't do it. I was offered up as a stand in to keep Andy company and help raise more for this increadibly worthwhile cause. SDBTT did actually offer Hattie the option of holding the place open to next year: however, as she so kindly put it "This is probably Peter's last chance to run the London Marathon", so kindly handed her place over to me.
So, on 22 April, Andy and I will be running the Marathon together: Andy and Hatty have already raised almost £5,000. Starting a bit late in the day, but with YOUR support, I am hoping to add another £1000 (my target was £750 but we have passed that already!) to their total. Please sponsor me generously! Thank you.
