The Space Centre provides a unique, versatile Multi Sensory Environment for children and adults with physical, learning and emotional difficulties. We offer 3 large sensory rooms where those with disabilities can safely develop skills and enjoy experiences not usually accessible to them.

Story

Thank you for taking time to visit our JustGiving Page!

Allow us to introduce ourselves.......

We are Andrea, Catherine, Nancy, Jenny, Zoe, Beckie, Chris and Jordan; a team of eight that work in the Preston office of Peter Jackson the Jeweller.

Managing Director Peter Jackson has set us a challenge!

Each team (5 stores and the head office) was asked to select a charity and find ways to turn £500 into as much money as possible for them.

We have 6 months to get creative, plan and organise our fundraising events and at the end of the 6 months whichever team has raised the most will have their figure matched by Peter.

The Charity we have chosen to support is

The Space Centre, Preston

The Space Centre is unique. Established in 1993, it is the largest multi-sensory environment in the United Kingdom for people with special needs. Located in Preston, SPACE currently offers a large, soft-padded multi-sensory room, with specialist lighting and even a slide! At SPACE, clients can move around in safety and develop skills, in a calm and controlled atmosphere.

To find out more about what SPACE do and how they can help, please take a look at their About Us pages on their website.

The SPACE Centre mission statement:

"To provide a place where those with physical, learning and / or emotional difficulties may more easily acquire skills and enjoy experiences usually denied them."

Challenge 1

Jordan is going to cycle a fantastic distance of 196 miles, stopping off at each Peter Jackson store along the way!

He will set off from our store in The Lanes Shopping Centre, Carlisle at 10am on Friday 11th July and cycle the gruelling 61miles to reach North of Lancaster.

The following day he will set off from Lancaster and cycle another 31 miles to our store in The Mall, Blackburn before travelling a further 16 miles to our stunning flagship store in The Rock, Bury.

The last day he will travel from Bury a further 37 miles to the Southport store on Lord Street. The last stretch will cover the 19.3 miles to St George's Shopping Centre, Preston where Jordan will stop off before embarking upon the final stretch of his journey, the last 2.7 miles which will bring him to The Space Centre!

Challenge 2

As well as the cycle challenge the Office team will organise and host their very own race night.

Race nights are a unique fund raising event where participants can enjoy winning money whilst at the same time raising funds for The Space Centre.

The night will include traditional races such as horse racing and Greyhound racing, and for entertainment value the night will include some novelty races.

A night of food, drink, racing, raffles and lots of fun guaranteed that we are hoping will raise lots of money for The Space Centre!
