WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation (formerly WDCS) is the leading global charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of whales and dolphins. We defend these remarkable creatures against the many threats they face. Our vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.

Story

Thank you all so very much for your wonderful support. You truly are amazing. Knowing I had so much support, got me round. Wasn't well at the end and couldn't walk for a couple of days. 7hrs and 10 mins was my time and now I've set myself another target. To smash the total raised, so that WE can help WDC persuade Virgin and other tour operators, that sending holiday-makers to SeaWorld is utterly wrong; immoral and means they are supporting institutionalised animal cruelty. Together we can make this happen and we can change the lives of some many animals in captivity!

Thank you so much for wanting to help Whales and Dolphins. I am making the marathon difficult to help show the daily pain and suffering of Whales and Dolphins in prison. My outfit is 2.5 metres in length and weighs around 4 stone. For the top 25 sponsors, you will get to see the documentary Black Fish with Special Guest Speaker at a Special Screening. That's special.

Keeping whales and dolphins in captivity for our ‘entertainment’ is just wrong. It is cruel and science proves this.

These intelligent creatures are often taken from the wild (and their family groups) in brutal hunts. They face a life swimming around a small tank instead of the 100 miles plus that they would cover each day in the wild. They are forced to perform tricks day after day for food instead of behaving naturally. All this affects their behaviour, and that they die a lot younger than they would in the wild.

Virgin (and other tour operators) sell tickets to SeaWorld captivity shows. They must stop supporting institutional animal cruelty.
