This year myself, my dad AND my sister are doing a trek for a local charity. The charity we are supporting this year is The Animal Rescue Charity​ in Bishop's Stortford as they are local to us and are doing lots of great things to help all those lonely animals :(

In previous years we have supported charities that help disadvantaged children and raised some great funds, this year we thought we would focus on something different. This a great charity who started out taking in strays from the local police dog pound. As news travelled fast, soon waifs and strays were being left on their doorstep.

Desperate funding and more suitable homes for these animals initiated the creation of the charity, now affectionately known as “the small charity with a big heart”. Many of us know of so many unwanted animals that don't have a home. This could be due to time constraints, illness (and sometimes worse reasons) but these are generally not at the fault of the animal. If you can give anything to keep this kind and generous charity going, it would be much appreciated.

The Dalai Lama Himalayan Trek is going to be a gruelling yet rewarding challenge. We will be:

Trekking an average of 15km-20km per day.
Going to high altitude, and reaching a maximum altitude of 3000 metres above sea level.
Trekking through unique remote areas in which we will see no other tourists or trekkers
Staying in lodges with very basic facilities, or camping

All the money raised will go straight to the charity.

Colin, Leanne & Emma will fund themselves to pay for the costs of the trip.
